Protecting Biodiversity.
Specialty herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides applications
Minnesota's pollinators depend on access to a variety of plants throughout the season. Invasive plants like Creeping Charlie and Buckthorn can quickly choke out biodiversity. Often just one or two species of plant survives.
Non-native insects like Japanese Beetles and Emerald Ash Borers can destroy the anchor trees and shrubs of your landscape.
Insecticides can defend trees and shrubs. To allow biodiversity to be restored with new plantings, herbicides are often needed.
Digging often spreads rhizome weeds; and once a shrubby invasive like buckthorn is established, even chemical controls aren't always effective.
That said, an amateur applicator can pollute huge swaths of groundwater in one afternoon...and leave anyone who hired them vulnerable.
I hold a 2024 Minnesota Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in the Turf and Ornamentals Category. I receive client consent before each application and provide detailed documentation. I store, mix, apply, and dispose of pesticides safely. I use herbicides that pose less of a risk to our groundwater and know how to apply the correct dose at the right time.
